Tyler Momsen
By Eunice Apia
I was able to attend the TEEN Vogue fashion show and catch Tyler Momsen perform. TEEN Vogue event was very organized. I wish I was able to catch other events as entertaining. They started off with a fashion show and then lead into Tyler and her band “Pretty Reckless”. I thought she was pretty good even though a bit cliche. I just hopes she slows down as she gets older. I did score two cute lipstick sponsored by Neutrogena. That made my night.

Rihanna
By Eunice Apia
When I found out about “Fashion Night Out”, which was held on September 10 in NYC; I was excited not because I had money to shop but because I wanted to see what it was all about. Okay, also because I knew there were going to be free gifts there. What can I say, I am broke and NYC is the place to be broke in. I didn’t plan well nor did I get a chance to enjoy the event. After hitting up two spots, I went home limping.
Next year, not only will I wear flats but I will make sure I get there early for that free shuttle bus. I did get to see Rihanna at “Intermix”. She walked in posed, took pictures and walked out. I don’t even think she bought anything, I’ll leave it at that. I’m sure she is a sweet girl. I can’t say the same for the jerk that was minding the door.

Al Sharpton
By Toni Musa
Saturday August 29th, 2009 I joined the hundreds of beautiful people who were audacious enough to show their love as fans of the artist forever known as ” The King of Pop”, Michael Joseph Jackson. We celebrated his 51st birthday, enjoying his prolific and unmatched musical prowess and honoring his life. The birthday celebration at Prospect Park in Brooklyn took place despite, drizzly rain and muddy grass but it couldn’t have been more perfect scripted. DJ Spinna did an absolutely sterling job of bringing Michael Jackson’s expansive list of songs to the people. His mixes kept everyone dancing, the entire show, paced by the use of a line from a Jackson 5 song “Can you feel it?”and feel “it” we did.
Tracey Morgan, Spike Lee and Ed Lover rotated MC duties. Various expressions of the Jackson experience, from glittery gloves to several children dressed as characters from “The Wiz”, made me realize that MJ’s talent was a gift he did not waste. We danced, we “ma ma ce ma ma ca ma ma co saed” and even listened to Reverend Al Sharpton offer up a prayer and moment of silence. It was all so dramatic, so very August, Michael would have enjoyed it. I’m hoping it can be an even bigger celebration August 29, 2010.
